First Flight to the Aurora Australis

Just few more nights to go until the first historical Aurora Australis tour “Flight to the Lights”.
This project surfaced and became a reality from Otago Museum Director Ian Griffin’s strong passion towards aurora observation and the aurora fan’s huge desire to see auroras more closely.

The official flight number is NZ1980 chartering Air New Zealand 767 departing Thursday, 23 March 2017 at 9:00:00 p.m NZT.
It is planned to fly south for 7 hour to view the Aurora Australis from 38,000 ft and more than 65 degrees south. It is the first aurora enthusiasts gathering on a plane heading towards the Southern Lights.
