The first tour to see the Aurora Australis was a success with approximately 6 hours of aurora viewing time.
Project name “Flight to the Light” flew on a Boeing jet 767 to 66 degrees south carrying 130 passengers.
I feel grateful to be able to be on this first flight to the aurora band. It was quite special.
There were huge international response and the flight was featured across mainstream media.
Photo above was used in the Otago Daily Times newspaper, TVNZ1, TV3, Ameba news and a few other websites.
The flight path created by the first officer of the flight Matthew Harrington.
