Panorama apps compared

Above is a sequence of images that I stitched to a panorama over the weekend.
It is the image taken in a sequence on the 8th June, capturing the SAR (Stable auroral red) arc, Milkyway,  aurora and the seal sitting in the ocean.

I jumped out of the water after realizing there was something in the water. So I didn’t have too much hope, as it wasn’t aligned well and feeling I didn’t have enough good frames.
But the image came out well using MS ICE and with few minor adjustments through Adobe PS.

I’ve compared the outputs from Canon’s Photostich Launcher, PTGui, AutoPano Giga, Hugin and Photomerge on Photoshop for this image. They all came out differently and some quite worse than others. MS ICE, which I used for the first time was the best this time.

It is a freeware downloadable from Microsoft

Although time-consuming, stitching has strength in many ways. It can achieve bigger framing and higher resolutions and capture an image that single frame photos cannot.
